Metaelements in contexts with food names and kitchen tools (Based on the material of the Vologda subdialects)

The article examines food tradition that exists on the territory of Vytegorsky (Megra) and Totemsky districts in Vologda Oblast (Varnitsy village, Ivoilovo village, Pyatovskaya village, Glubokoe village, Myasokombinat village, Savino village, Sovinskaya village, Tsareva village, Chernyakovo village, Pritykino village, Totma). Research data is dialect recordings of Saratov dialectological text corpus. Food tradition, represented in speech by food names and kitchen tools, is analyzed in a discursive aspect in the article: we focus on the refl ectivity of dialect speech.

The Cologne dialect: Development trends

The article studies the Cologne dialect in the process of its historical development. The current state of the dialect is notable for a wide and in different ways varied range of regional, social, functional and stylistic layers (levels) in close coordination with one another. Notably, this system is not stable, it constantly changes under the influence of the social, technical, cultural, historical and other factors. The research on language change often disregards the dialect material featuring prominently in the historical context of linguistics.

Names of kitchen utensils as elements of the food tradition (Based on the Vologda dialects)

The article considers the names of kitchen utensils as elements of the food tradition in the Vologda dialects. Different lexical dialect units that constitute a part of the thematic group “Kitchen utensils” are studied in this article. The meanings of these units and their functioning in speech are also analyzed.

Food Tradition in the Folk Speech Culture: Products, Dishes, Drinks (On the Example of Vologda Dialects)

This article analyzes food tradition in the folk speech culture based on the material of Vologda dialects. The article examines one of the main elements of the food tradition – the names of food items, dishes and drinks. The research is carried out by means of the thematic classification of units: the composition of the thematic group and the functioning of units in speech are analyzed.

Dialect in German Language Fairy Tales (Study Relevance and Interpretation Examples)

The article deals with the German dialect, which has recently been drawing the increasing amount of attention in German-speaking countries. Nowadays, the verbal genre of telling fairy tales is popular there, and fairy tales are related and represented by means of dialect more frequently. The authors of the article analyze the use of different dialecticisms and their textual functions on the example of the interpretation of two of the brothers Grimms’ fairy tales, in which separate dialect words from the Plattdeutch and the Hessen dialect are used.
