Medical discourse and / or morbual code: Problems of terminology of modern literary criticism

The article deals with the problem of differentiating the spheres of use of the terms ‘medical discourse’ and ‘morbual code’ while analyzing a literary text. The theoretical definition of the morbual code of literature has been clarified and its varieties and main representatives have been described on the basis of semiotic, linguistic and cultural approaches.

Religious and Medical Discourses: Meeting Points

This article deals with religious and medical discourses, which are considered from a sociolinguistic point of view. Their general sociolinguistic characteristic is given, common discursive signs are revealed, speech and communicative strategies and tactics, as well as ways of expressing them are described. A comparative analysis of these discourses has shown the unity of their purpose, means and methods aimed at treating physical and spiritual diseases.

Literary Text as a Diagnosis

The monograph under review is a continuation of the author’s research in the field of visual poetics of the Russian literature. The ‘optics’ proposed in the book allows to see the medical plots of literary texts in a new way, to comprehend aesthetic and existential experience of the disease.

The article specifically focuses on the function of Nabokov’s intertext in unveiling ideological and philosophical problems: comprehending the phenomenon of time and the creative ability of memory. The role of the word and literature in the struggle against amnesia is considered.
