English discourse practices in terms of linguo-axiological approach

The article presents the results of systematization and analysis of the current vectors of discourse research in terms of linguo-axiological approach together with identification of perspective gap areas. The types of the English discourse, the value-evaluative parameters of which have already been fragmentarily determined, are pinpointed together with the analysis of key directions of linguo-axiological discourse research indicating the most likely trends in their development.

The monograph under review is devoted to explaining the properties of a good scientific text (integrity, speech consistency, stereotyping, evaluation, abstractness) under the influence of modern discursive changes. It presents the most valuable set of stereotypical speech formulas for all stages of the presentation of scientific thought, universal rules for constructing a scientific text.

Some Aspects of the Discrediting Strategy in Soviet Media Discourse (Based on Newspaper Articles of the 1960–1979)

The article is devoted to one of the forms of implementation of the discrediting strategy in the Soviet political media discourse – the tactics of labeling. Examples from the Soviet press of the 1960–1970s (Pravda, Izvestia, Krasnaya zvezda and Vecherniaia Moskva) are analyzed. As a result of the study, semantic groups of labels are identified; their ways of interacting with other means of discrediting are analyzed

Metaphorical Interpretation of a Woman’s Age in the Russian and German Languages (on the Material of Thesauruses)

This article deals with the substantive metaphor describing a woman in the Russian and German languages. The analysis of metaphorical nominations is aimed at identifying the description of the universal, cultural and national characteristics attributed to a ‘female person’ depending on her age and social status.
