The article discusses some difficulties that a journalist encounters when he uses qualitative adverbs in the texts of a modern newspaper. The author analyzes the cases of excessive or incorrect usage of adverbs.

The article is dedicated to a specialized publication of Tsaritsyn, Saratov county, of the turn of the XIX–XXth century: the address calendars and reference calendars. Their main chapters and structure have been outlined as well as the circle of historic data which is contained in the publications under research.

The 1860s turned out to be crucial in forming both Sheller-Mikhailov’s creative identity and his world outlook, his spiritual, moral and aesthetic views, which he had been true to throughout his life journey. Not lengthy in time, but prolific and active participation in Zhenskiy Vestnik holds a specific place in the journal activity of the writer, who rightfully became one of the key and unifying figures in the literary process of the second half of the XIXth century.

The article is dedicated to the participation of a prominent scientist P. P. Blonsky (1884–1941) in pedagogical publications up to and including 1917. The article specially focuses on his collaboration with the journals Vestnik vospitaniya (Education Bulletin) and Svobodnoye vospitaniye (Free education). Based on archive materials, memoires and analysis of publications the conclusion is drawn on the significant contribution of P. P. Blonsky to the pre-Soviet pedagogical press.

The article presents a review of the issues of the weekly journal Vsemirnaya Illustraziya (World Illustration) from the point of view of the history of the Russian journalistic criticism. The views of the journal editorial board on the rights and duties of the periodical papers depending on their place in mass media system are elicited.

The article presents a comparative analysis of how experimental TV stations worked in the US in the first half of the XXth century in the cities of Washington, Schenectady, Boston, New York, Long Island City, Los Angeles, Chicago and other; their development features are identified.

The subject of analysis in the article is the diary notes of a prominent poet and prose writer of the second half of the XXth century, an ex-prisoner of Stalin’s camps, a native of Voronezh region, A. V. Zhigulin (1930–2000). He wrote about Pushkin and Nekrasov’s traditions in the activities of Novy Mir journal and its editor-in-chief A. T. Tvardovsky (1910–1971).

The article considers Old Believer journalism of the beginning of the ХХth century and the journalistic legacy of M. P. Davydov, a Saratov journalist who actively contributed to the leading Old Believers’ journals of that time. The bibliography of his published articles is presented; as well as short excerpts of some articles; the author’s biographical data and his pen-names are specified.
