Blurring the boundaries between fictional and factual principles in her work, L. Ulitskaya expands the range of reader’s interpretations.

George’s individualism, the representative of the 1900s and the head of the terrorist group, goes back to the romantic individualism of Lermontov’s namesake hero and his follower – a «hero of the time».
